Introduction

Hackdays in the Heart of Lagos is a single-day, in-person build sprint hosted at the University of Lagos brought to you by Build54 Africa, in partnership with Major League Hacking, Google Cloud, and Adaption. For one day, builders from across Nigeria show up, form teams, and ship real products powered by AI models no long build-up, just five focused hours from idea to demo.

Tools and Technologies

• AI models — any LLM, vision, audio, or other model can serve as the core of your build
• Adaption — provisioned to every participant with ~$800 in credits (tied to your registration email):
  • Adaptive Data — clean, expand, and improve training data across languages with minimal manual effort
  • AutoScientist — define your target outcome and let it co-optimize datasets and training recipes toward it
• Google Cloud — available for teams building on cloud infrastructure (credits/access details shared at the morning brief)
• Any other frameworks, APIs, or open-source tools your team prefers — there's no fixed tech stack requirement

Inspiration

Talent across Nigeria is often overlooked simply because it hasn't had a stage. Build54 exists to change that  bringing builders together in person, giving them real AI tooling most teams couldn't otherwise access, and turning a single day into a portfolio-worthy product and a door into what's next.
